Which Is Better for Skin Rejuvenation - Dermal Rolling or Laser Rejuvenation
19-Jan-2012 Dermal Rolling Vs PhotoRejuvenationWhat is best for me?
Both treatments offer an increase in collagen production but go about producing this increase in different ways.
Photorejuvenation works by increasing the heat in the skin and thus increasing the metabolism of the fibroblasts (responsible for making our collagen) for a short time. This treatment kills many birds with one stone, therefore is a brilliant all-rounder if you want to improve different aspects of your skin, for example you would like to clear up some sun damage and broken capillaries and stimulate collagen in one hit.
So why would you choose Dermal Rolling then??
Dermal Rolling is long term intensive collagen inducing treatment which will over time stimulate more collagen than a photorejuvenation treatment and is therefore the best option for if your main concern is thinning of the skin and lines and wrinkles. It works by stimulating a wound healing response in the skin which in turn supercharges your fibroblasts into producing more collagen over a longer period of time. This will thicken the dermis and reduce the appearance of lines and wrinkles; it is especially great around the eyes and is the most effective treatment for skin laxity in this sensitive area.
What sort of time frame am I looking at?
For photorejuvenation you would need up to 4 treatments once per month.
Dermal Rolling you would need up to 5 treatments every 6 weeks
As always a consultation is always the best place to start so we can assess your individual needs and work out the best treatment plan for you.
