For some people, hirsutism or excessive hair growth due to medical, hormonal or genetic factors can have a negative impact on their lives. The right treatment option (hair and skin type), can be discussed with you and quoted during a consultation with one of our clinicians.
Excess body and facial hair can be attributed in part to the following conditions:
Laser or light energy is selectively absorbed by the pigment (melanin) in hair follicles and converted to heat, diffusing through the hair shaft to injuring stem cells in the hair bulb, thereby disrupting hair growth. After a series of treatments, most hair is permanently removed. However, if hair does regrow it will be finer and lighter than before.
Electroylsis is the traditional treatment for Permanent Hair Removal and is great for smaller areas such as single, stubborn-to-remove hair on the chin, eyebrows and generally around the nipple. It can treat all hair colours, including blonde and white. It works by sending an electrical pulse down the the hair shaft effectively destroying the cells responible for growth.
Waxing is accomplished by spreading a wax combination thinly over the skin. A cloth or paper strip is then pressed on the top and ripped off with a quick movement against the direction of hair growth. Anywhere you shave or wax can cause in-grown hair, even on your face after you wax your eyebrows! Home waxing is the biggest culprit, so it's best to have a trained professional at Facial Attraction looking after you.
