What is acne?
Acne is a disease that affects the skin's oil glands. Acne is the term for plugged pores (blackheads and whiteheads), pimples, and even deeper lumps (cysts or nodules) that occur on the face, neck, chest, back, shoulders and even the upper arms. Glands in our pores/follicles produce an oily substance called sebum. When the follicle of a skin gland clogs up, it causes an infection, and a pustule forms.
