Electrolysis

This is a traditional method for permanent hair removal. It is great for smaller areas such as single, stubborn-to-remove hair on the chin, eyebrows and generally around the nipple. It can treat all hair colours, including blonde and white. Only sterile disposable probes used.

Electrolysis - Permanent Hair Removal

Of all the methods of permanent hair removal, electrolysis has been around the longest. It is very safe, reliable and effective, and is used by Facial Attraction Ivanhoe Clinics to address permanent hair removal for clients who cannot be addressed solely by new the new SIPL or BBL technology. Each hair must be treated individually, and approx 40 follicles can be treated in a 15-minute session. It is suitable for all skin and hair types.

How does it work?

Electrolysis works by delivering an electric current via a fine sterile needle into the hair follicle. This electric current destroys the cells responsible for hair growth. The loosened hair is then removed with tweezers. Under the US Food and Drug Administration regulations, electrolysis is the only method that can claim to remove hair permanently. However, certain factors can cause new hair growth.

Does it hurt?

Some people find electrolysis painful, but not enough to need topical anesthetic.

Diathermy

WHAT IS DIATHERMY?

Diathermy is an advanced technique used by our Clinicians and Electrologist to reduce and eliminate, individual, visible surface capillaries (thread Veins) and spider veins, on the face. We would normally recommend our laser treatments for larger areas. Diathermy is the cauterisation by heat current, of the visible capillaries, which are in the epidermal layers.

There can be many causes of these damaged capillaries … sun exposure, harsh treatment of the skin and injury such as squeezing. In some cases, fine skin texture and Rosacea may be an inherited factor.

Skin Tags

What are skin tags (cutaneous papilloma)?

A skin tag is a small fleshy-colored benign growth consisting that protrudes from the skin occurring more frequently during and after middle age. They can be skin color, or darker and can range from 1mm to 5mm in size. They are most commonly found in wrinkled skin or fold areas of the body such as the armpits, sides of the neck and in the groin area. Skin tags are also found on the eyelids and around the eye. Skin tags are not harmful but can be annoying as they can get caught in jewelry and clothes.

Currently, there is no known cause as to why they occur, however a few factors are suspected: Irritation from skin rubbing together and chaffing, a resistance to insulin and the Human Papilloma Virus. A simple diathermy treatment often addresses skin tags, however to does not prevent new ones from forming.
