Skin Tightening with SkinTyte™ LaserSkinTyte™offers a non-ablative, non-surgical approach to firmer skin. The SkinTyte™ treatment is based on the principle of selective thermolysis and utilizes Sciton’s BBL™ pulsed light technology to deeply heat your skin while cooling and protecting the entire treated surface. SkinTyte™ can be provided quickly and comfortably with no downtime. The end result is a more youthful appearance. How does SkinTyte™ work? The SkinTyte™ procedure utilizes a broadband of light energy to deeply heat dermal collagen. This process promotes partial denaturation and contraction of collagen. The heat also initiates the body’s natural healing process which creates a renewed collagen foundation leading to increased skin firmness. Powerful cooling maintains the outer surface of your skin at a cool temperature before, during, and after each pulse providing the patient a comfortable and safe procedure. What is the treatment like? The SkinTyte™ light energy is delivered in a sequence of rapid, gentle pulses. There is no need for a topical anesthetic; however, your Clinician may choose to use one on more sensitive areas. A series of pulses will be repeated over the treatment area to ensure best results. While the face and neck can typically be treated within 60 minutes, actual time will depend on the area treated. What should I expect after treatment? You may experience some mild redness in the treated area immediately after and this should return to normal within minutes. Since the SkinTyte™ procedure is non-invasive there is no downtime so you can resume regular activities immediately following treatment. No procedure has ever been developed that can accomplish such terrific results with such low risk and no down time. In rare cases, swelling of the face for 3-5 days may occur and is most common in severely sun damaged skin due to reduced quality of connective tissue around the blood vessels. You can also apply makeup and sunscreen after each session. What results should I expect? The majority of patients feel that their skin is tighter after just one treatment, but visible improvements in skin laxity generally take place over three to six months as the collagen foundation of your skin is rebuilt and strengthened. This exciting new technology is perfect for those who wish to tighten and firm up their skin, with virtually no down-time.The SkinTyte™ procedure, however, is not a substitute for a face-lift and results may vary from patient to patient. The SkinTyte™ procedure is recommended for patients who desire moderate, noticeable skin improvement without having to undergo surgery. Clinical Studies to date suggest that results last 12-18 months. Some patients prefer to continue maintenance treatments every 6-12 months after the initial course of treatments. What areas can be treated?SkinTyte™ treatments are safe for all skin types, even Asian and darker skin types, and can be performed on any area of the body where an improvement in your skin firmness is desired. Popular areas include the face, neck, abdomen, and arms. You should consult with your Clinician regarding the treatment options that are best for you. How many treatments will I need?A series of 2-3 treatments spaced a month apart is typical of most patients. Your Clinician will personalize a treatment plan based on the level of improvement you desire. Your Clinician may also combine SkinTyte™ with other popular aesthetic procedures to further personalize your treatment. What aftercare do I need?No special skincare regimen is required following treatment. However, you should always protect your skin from direct sun exposure and use a good sunscreen. Your Clinician can recommend appropriate products to provide longevity to treatment outcomes. Who should avoid this treatment?SkinTyte™ treatments are not recommended for patients with connective tissue disease or autoimmune disorders. It is also not advisable for pregnant women, nor is it safe for non UV protected sun exposed skin. Patients on Roaccutane should wait a minimum of 6 months before undergoing a SkinTyte™ procedure. Most photosensitive medications such as antibiotics, anti anxiety, sulfa drugs, birth control pills and anti-hypertensive medications are not a concern. In patients who have cold sores (herpes) on the face, an anti-herpes medication should be taken prior and after treatment. Can the same results be achieved with chemical peels or microdermabrasion? No, although Skin Tyte™ treatments are often used in alternate sessions with certain types of Peels and microdermabrasion. The combined use of SkinTyte™ rejuvenation with Microdermabrasion has been shown to enhance the benefit of this procedure by reducing the dilated capillaries and redness that Microdermabrasion is unable to help. It is also a good adjunct to other procedures such as:
